Austria: Deal with radicals, not minarets, says Jewish community

The Vienna Jewish Community posted the following (DE) on its website:

It came to violent insults and verbal abuse and the presiding rabbi was injured so that he had to be hospitalized.

Muslims in Austria deserve the same right to freedom of religion as others. A discussion about minarets can be dispensed with.

It would be appropriate if the Right, which incites against minarets, though they invite foreign Islamists to their party meetings, as well as the Left, which ignores Arab Jew-hatred as 'anti-imperialist', would stop and think and take a stand on the antisemitic attack by a Palestinian on a rabbi at Stephansplatz, during the Jewish Festival of Light "Chanukkah".

The Austrian government has an obligation to act with the necessary seriousness against radical Muslims, terrorist sympathizers and neo-Nazi provocateurs, rather than conduct a discussion on minarets.
